My name is Karen Campbell. I am a multimedia artist and illustrator.

A lot of my inspiration comes from the amazing nature and coastal landscapes that surround me. Common objects that are part of my daily life also sometimes catch my eye. The thing that I love most about creating art is taking the time to get fully absorbed in a subject, exploring the small details that make it unique.

Formally, I studied drawing and printmaking at The School of Art and Design, East Carolina University, North Carolina. Today I enjoy experimenting with different mediums and techniques, whatever seems to fit the subject matter and my mood best. In my portfolio you will see a heavy focus on drawing, often with colored pencil combined with watercolor or gouache. Soft pastels or oils are other favorites, especially for landscapes. Recently I have been excited to get back into printmaking, specifically experimenting with traditional Japanese woodblock techniques.

Original works and limited edition prints are often available for purchase. I am also available for private commissions and commercial illustration projects.

Daily sketches are a big part of my routine. These experiments are not always successful but always fun. Follow me on Instagram if you want to see more.
